Building Rectangular or Square Cakes

This lesson shows you how to easily put a crumb coat on the cake.
Square and rectangular cakes can be the most difficult to get really smooth. This lesson will show you how, with patience and practice, to get smooth sides and sharp corners.
Brush Embroidery Cake
5 lecturesUse your practice surface to learn the technique before starting on your cake.
How to choose a pattern and adjust it to make it your own. Also learn about copyright and cakes!
There is a template provided at the end of the course. You can print it for your cake or create your own pattern. In this lesson you will see how to then transfer the design onto the cake.
Learn how to achieve the desired look on an actual cake.
Sometimes, in cake decorating, you will choose to add an element of decor at the end that will really complement the overall style of the cake. In this lesson I show you how to frame out the design with a delicate bead border.
Wildflower Cake
10 lecturesLearn how to achieve a misty look with the buttercream watercolor technique.
Lay the foundation of the dark green meadow using swiss meringue buttercream and a paint brush.
Using high proof alcohol and icing color, you can create the shapes of trees in the distance.
This step is optional, however the use of the luster spray adds another level of dimension to the design.
It's time to add some color to the cake! In this lesson you will see how to use two types of brushes to create different floral looks.
Now that the background is complete, you will discover how to bring the design into the foreground. This lesson will show you how to pipe stems as the base for the piped flowers.
Learn how to pipe royal blue lupine and bright orange poppies.
Discover how to pipe very small leaves with a tip that is used to pipe medium-sized leaves.
The cake would be beautiful with just the design on the sides, but a wildflower crown really sets it off! Learn how to pipe the foundation for the crown in this lesson.

Piped Flowers

Create two tone dahlias with incredible detail and many petals.
The English rose is different from the traditional piped rose. Learn how to make them in a lovely light pink color.
This lesson goes over to how to pipe larger leaves ahead of time for a more realistic look.
Piped Flower Cake

Now it's time to move all of the beautiful piped flowers onto the cake.

Add some navy blue berry clusters as a filler and for contrast.
Placing the piped leaves will really bring the whole together.
