Step 1
Begin by preheating your oven to 175°C (350°F). This is an important step as it ensures that your cookies bake evenly.
While the oven is heating, gather and prepare your ingredients to make the mixing process easier.
Step 2
In a small mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, beaten egg, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt.
Stir the mixture until it is well blended and smooth. This helps to create a nice base for your cookie dough.
Step 3
Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the wet mixture, and gently fold it in using a silicone spatula.
Be careful not to overmix; just continue until you have a dough-like consistency. If the dough seems too wet, you may add an additional 8–10 grams of flour (0.3–0.4 ounces).
Step 4
Add chocolate chips to taste and mix them in well. Next, place the dough into the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to help it firm up a bit.
This step enhances the texture and prevents the cookies from spreading too much while baking.
Step 5
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Once your dough has chilled, scoop portions and roll them into balls, placing each on the prepared baking sheet.
If desired, sprinkle a little coarse sea salt on top for an extra pop of flavor.

Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for about 8 minutes. You want the edges to turn a nice golden brown while the centers remain slightly soft.
Be sure not to overbake, as the cookies will continue to cook on the hot baking sheet after being removed from the oven. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
