Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking powder. In another bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until fully combined. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until the batter is smooth.
Step 2
Divide the batter evenly between two greased 20 cm (8 inch) round cake pans. Level the tops with a spatula for even baking. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
Step 3
In a medium-sized bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar, continuing to whip until it reaches medium peaks. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then fold in the whipped cream until combined well.
Step 4
Once the cake layers are completely cool, place one layer on a cake stand. Spread half of the cream filling on top. Place the second cake layer on top and cover it with the remaining cream filling.
Use a spatula to smooth the cream on top and around the sides of the cake for an even finish. Chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set the filling.
Step 5
Before serving, decorate the top of the cake with edible flowers, chocolate shavings, and fresh berries. This adds a lovely and colorful touch to your creation.
