Step 1

Prepare the Churros Dough

In a saucepan, combine 250 milliliters of water, 100 grams of unsalted butter, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of sugar. Stir the mixture gently while heating it over medium heat.

Bring the mixture to a boil and then gradually add 150 grams of all-purpose flour, stirring continuously with a silicone spatula until you achieve a smooth consistency. Once combined, remove it from heat and let it cool to about 45-47 degrees Celsius (about 113-117 degrees Fahrenheit).

After cooling, incorporate 1 large egg into the mixture. Use a hand mixer to break down the structure of the egg white, then finish mixing with the spatula until the dough is uniformly smooth.

Step 2

Shape the Churros

Transfer the dough into a pastry bag fitted with a star tip. Prepare a heavy-bottomed saucepan filled with sunflower oil, heating it to around 175-180 degrees Celsius (about 347-356 degrees Fahrenheit).

It’s crucial to heat the oil properly; otherwise, the churros won’t fry correctly and will absorb excess oil, resulting in a greasy texture.

Step 3

Fry the Churros

Once the oil is heated, pipe strips of the dough into the oil, cutting them with scissors to create individual churros. Fry only 2-3 strips at a time to ensure they don't stick together.

Fry for about 3-4 minutes, turning them occasionally so they brown evenly. Remove them from the oil when they are golden brown and perfectly crispy.

Step 4

Coat the Churros

Once the churros are fried, take some and roll them in sugar while others can be rolled in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon according to your taste.

Serve warm and enjoy your delightful churros with a hot beverage!
