Instructions
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine 350 ml warm milk with 10 grams of active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Allow it to rest for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
Next, add in the 60 grams of melted butter, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1 egg, mixing well. Gradually incorporate 800-900 grams of all-purpose flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Step 2
Once combined, transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Step 3
After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1 cm thick. Spread your choice of filling across the dough.
Roll the dough tightly into a log, then slice it into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls into a greased baking tray and cover them with a towel. Allow them to rest for another 30 minutes.
Step 4
While waiting, beat together 1 egg yolk and 30 ml milk. This will give your sweet rolls a beautiful golden color.
Step 5
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). After the resting period, gently brush the tops of the rolls with the prepared egg wash to give them a nice shine.
Bake the rolls for 30-40 minutes until they are golden brown and have risen beautifully. Once done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
