Instructions
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, beat together the eggs and sugar until fluffy. Then add the vegetable oil, honey, and cocoa powder, mixing well.
Finally, stir in the baking soda and place the mixture over a double boiler to heat gently.
Step 2
Once the mixture is warm, add 250 grams (2 cups) of flour, stirring to combine and create a smooth batter. This step helps to partially cook the flour.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow it to cool for about 40 minutes.
Step 3
After cooling, sift in the remaining flour. The dough will be slightly sticky, which is normal.
Transfer the dough into a plastic bag and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 4
On a floured surface, divide the dough into 3 portions, each weighing approximately 380 grams (0.84 pounds).
Roll each piece out flat and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 5-7 minutes until lightly golden.
Step 5
Once baked, trim the edges of the cake layers for evenness. Set these aside for the filling.
Step 6
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk and vanillin, beating until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder with vegetable oil and then fold this mixture into the cream.
Step 7
Crumble the edges of the baked cakes and mix them with 70 milliliters (0.3 cups) of cognac and syrup from your chosen jam. The mixture should be moist, but not overly wet.
Step 8
Combine the cocoa powder and sugar in a saucepan. Add water and bring it to a simmer, but do not let it boil.
Once combined, add the vegetable oil and let it cool slightly.
Step 9
Start layering the cake by placing one layer down, followed by cream, then the filling. Repeat this process until all layers are assembled.
Top the final layer with the cooled glaze, spreading it evenly over the surface.

**Don’t forget to decorate!** Sprinkling fresh berries 🍓 or a scoop of vanilla ice cream 🍦 on the side can elevate your presentation and enhance the flavor. Each bite will take you back to joyful moments shared over home-baked sweets. How about adding a personal touch with a sprinkle of nuts or shavings of chocolate for that extra flair? 🥜🍫
Whether you're indulging solo or entertaining guests, this cake is bound to make hearts flutter. So gather your loved ones, slice into this moist chocolatey goodness, and make sweet memories! ❤️
Equipment
A stand mixer allows for easy mixing of the batter and cream. If using a hand mixer, make sure to whip the cream and butter thoroughly to achieve a smooth texture.
Your baking sheets need to be large enough for the size of the cake layers. If necessary, line them with parchment paper for easy release.
Use a rolling pin to get your dough evenly spread. Make sure to dust the surface and rolling pin with flour to prevent sticking.

Variations
If you are looking for options that cater to dietary preferences, **we've got you covered!** 😉✨
For a **gluten-free version**, substitute regular flour with a gluten-free blend. Using almond or oat flour can also give you a delightful twist without compromising taste! 🌾❌
Want a **vegan treat**? Simply replace eggs with flaxseed meal (1 tablespoon flaxseed mixed with 2.5 tablespoons of water = 1 egg) and opt for coconut oil in place of butter! You can also use plant-based milk for the cream. You'll have a delicious cake that everyone can enjoy! 🌱❤️
Faq
- What can I do if my cake layers break when I try to remove them from the baking sheet?
If your cake layers are breaking, ensure you let them cool slightly before attempting to remove them. Using parchment paper can also help prevent sticking.
- How can I tell when my cake layers are baked through?
Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center of the layers—if it comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs, they’re ready!
- Can I add flavors to the cream for a twist?
Absolutely! Adding a splash of vanilla extract or a hint of espresso powder can enhance the flavor profile of your cream.
- What should I do if I want to make this cake ahead of time?
You can bake your layers ahead of time and freeze them. Simply wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and foil, then thaw before assembling.
- How can I achieve a smoother glaze on top?
To get a smoother glaze, let it cool slightly before applying. Additionally, ensure all your ingredients are at room temperature to avoid lumps.
- What can I use instead of honey in the recipe?
You can substitute honey with agave syrup or maple syrup for a different yet equally sweet flavor.
