Variations
Faq
- What is the easiest way to zest a lemon or an orange?
A microplane grater is the best tool for zesting. Gently rub the citrus against the grater, being careful to only take off the colorful outer layer.
- How do I prevent my mousse from becoming grainy?
Ensure that all your ingredients are at room temperature before mixing. Slowly incorporate whipped cream into the mousse to maintain its smoothness.
- Can I use dried basil instead of fresh basil for the mousse?
Fresh basil is recommended for its vibrant flavor and aroma. Dried basil will not provide the same fresh, invigorating taste.
- What's the best way to achieve a smooth chocolate shell?
Tempering your chocolate will result in a smooth, shiny shell. Melt two-thirds of your chocolate over a double boiler, then stir in the remaining third until smooth.
- Is it possible to make this in advance for a party?
Absolutely! These pastries can be made 1-2 days in advance. Store them in the refrigerator, but wait to add the mint chips until they are ready to be served.
- Can I freeze the mousse pastries for later use?
Yes, you can freeze the assembled pastries before adding the mint chips. Thaw them slowly in the refrigerator before serving to maintain texture.
