Step 1
Start by dissolving the dry yeast in the warm water. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes, until the mixture becomes frothy.
Next, add warm milk, melted butter (cooled to room temperature), sugar, salt, egg yolks, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Stir well using a wooden spoon until all ingredients are combined.
Gradually sift in the all-purpose flour, mixing until the dough comes together in a ball.
Step 2
Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise for about 1 to 1.5 hours, until it has doubled in size.
Once risen, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle measuring 45 x 35 cm (about 18 x 14 inches). Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter.
Cut the dough along the long side into strips about 2.5 cm (1 inch) wide. Roll each strip into spirals or scrolls and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 3
Cover the shaped buns with a towel and allow them to proof for an additional hour.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the buns for 12-18 minutes, or until they reach a lovely golden color.
