In a mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter, egg, all-purpose flour, ground nutmeg, ground cinnamon, and sugar.

After the dough has chilled, take it out of the refrigerator. On a piece of parchment paper, roll the dough into a large circle, approximately 12 inches in diameter.

Slice the pears thinly and arrange them in the center of the rolled-out dough, leaving about a 1.5 inch border around the edge.

Fold the edges of the dough over the pears to create a rustic galette shape.
Step 4
Melt the remaining unsalted butter and brush it over the folded edges of the dough to achieve a beautiful golden color when baked.

Preheat your oven to 220 degrees Celsius (428 degrees Fahrenheit). Place the galette on a baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes or until the edges are golden-brown and the pears are tender.
