A couple of years ago, I decided to completely replace all the kitchenware and utensils in my kitchen. I wanted to finally gather everything in one style that suited my needs (do you often have items in your kitchen that you never use?). The picture in my head was clear — my kitchen would only have beautiful, minimalist, modern dishes with excellent properties, and they would be affordable with the possibility of gradually expanding my collection.

Tableware isn't heavily influenced by fashion trends, so plates and cups bought years ago always feel comfortable, even if 5 or more years have passed since the purchase. It's a different story when we evolve, changing our priorities and views. Therefore, choosing tableware needs to be done more thoughtfully, with the perspective of using it for many years.

Naturally, I started my search in kitchenware stores, reading internet resources and culinary forums. I tried to understand what was on the market, which brands were respected and why. I also studied design, colors, and functionality. It became clear to me that colorful dishes with flowers, gold patterns, or strange ornaments weren't for me. I wanted more of a "restaurant feel" and less of a "kindergarten" with cheerful frills and flowers. I also don't like glass dishes; they seem somewhat artificial to me.

At some point, I became disappointed with the assortment in local stores and was ready to start searching online when I accidentally walked into one of the local chain's kitchenware supermarkets. There, like in others, was the same old stuff — colorful sets, glass plates, and so on. And suddenly, I saw a decent stand with beautiful white dishes. It was a paradise island, a concentration of all the strengths I was looking for in tableware. The brand was called Wilmax.

Company History

WILMAX LIMITED is an English company founded relatively recently, in 2010. It's quite a young company, but its development has been quite dynamic. The company already has a portfolio of more than 350 tableware items of different sizes, designs, and purposes. And while I'm writing this review, new items are being produced at the factory — cake stands.

In a conversation with Wilmax representatives, I asked, "You have an excellent company. I've been using your dishes for several years, and all my thoughts are about buying additional items, but what can the company boast about?" I was surprised by the honest answer, which wasn't just an advertising slogan, but an actual fact — "One of our strong competitive advantages is a very wide assortment range." This is indeed true. Currently, the company is represented in 60 countries. Wilmax is sold on all continents: Europe, the Middle East, Asia and America, Australia, Africa.

Attention to Detail

I like Wilmax because it always pleasantly surprises me. Some strengths are immediately visible, others you realize during use. The variety of forms and styles makes it possible to choose dishes for any taste and any interior. Classic round plates or stylish square ones, original teapots and familiar coffee pots. Wilmax tableware is universal; one item can be used for several purposes. For example, an open sugar bowl can also be a dessert bowl, and a bread basket can be used as a fruit bowl.

Wilmax versatile tableware

The assortment is truly vast. I even learned about the existence of some categories only by reading price tags in the store. Wilmax doesn't stop at a standard set of flat plates, cups, and salad bowls.

Wilmax porcelain is light, thin, and light easily penetrates through the product. Thanks to the unique recipe of the material, the dishes have exceptional whiteness (both on the surface and on the break), they are durable and resistant to chips. The special composition of the glaze provides smoothness and shine. Look at the photo, the dishes are snow-white, always. Look at the bottom of the plate.

It's completely covered with glaze, which ensures even greater durability, and besides, moisture and other substances don't absorb into the porcelain, and the dishes don't scratch the table surface. Company representatives told me that the dishes have low water absorption (less than 0.1%), which is good for health and makes the products more durable.

Pros and Cons:

  • + Amazing assortment of dishes both in quantity and nomenclature
  • + Excellent quality of porcelain and glaze, low water permeability, resistance to wear and staining
  • + Light, thin porcelain
  • + Affordable price
  • + Ability to purchase each item individually
  • + Constant introduction of new items to the assortment

Impressions

I consider it a great luck that I had the opportunity to get acquainted with Wilmax, its products and representatives. This is one of those brands that you want to cooperate with (for example, I would gladly participate in the creation of dessert items), which you trust not because the brochures have beautiful texts, but because for two years the dishes have never let me down and confirmed every word.

Wilmax tableware in use

As a food blogger, I appreciated the presence of a large number of small plates, which are convenient for storing ingredients for future dishes (look at any of my recipes, there's always Wilmax in the ingredient photos), from large pieces of meat to spices that you only need a couple of grams of. I simply fell in love with the pasta plates, they're incredibly convenient and keep heat well, the pasta stays hot for a long time.

If I were to open a restaurant tomorrow, the first thing I'd do is order a couple of boxes of Wilmax dishes for the kitchen and for the visitors. By the way, the company also has special professional lines.
