Step 1
In a large bowl, combine flour, butter, and sugar. Mix until you achieve a crumbly texture. Add in the egg, baking powder, and salt. Continue mixing until the dough comes together.
Once combined, wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Chilling the dough will make it easier to work with.
Step 2
While the dough is chilling, prepare the filling. In a bowl, mix sweetened condensed milk with chopped walnuts. Ensure they are well combined for an even filling.
Step 3
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out on a floured surface to about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch) thickness.
Using a cookie cutter or a glass, cut out shapes from the dough. Place half of the cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 4
Put a small spoonful of the walnut and condensed milk mixture onto the center of each cutout on the baking sheet. Top each with a second cutout, pressing the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Once baked, let them cool slightly on a wire rack.
Before serving, dust the tops lightly with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy these delightful nut pastries as a snack or dessert!
